Hoplite usage in everyday life
Hoplite’s simple and intuitive usage is summed in 3 steps:
- Connect Hoplite to your computer or handheld device through an USB-C cable.
- Start free Hoplite app on your computer or handheld device.
- Enter your master password.
You can now access to all your Hoplite secured data.
Hoplite app allows to easily duplicate a Hoplite device encrypted content to another Hoplite (the source Hoplite device master password is of course required to be able to duplicate the content). Thus, you can backup regularly the content of the Hoplite you are bringing with you to another Hoplite that remains safely at home. This way, you won’t be impacted if you loose the Hoplite you are carrying with you.

Hoplite is environmentally aware
Hoplite has been designed to last. There is no planned obsolescence (nor any backdoor!) and the whole electronic circuit is oversized. We choose to avoid using hazardous chemical materials in order to protect living beings and environment: Hoplite does not contain any tantalum, lithium or lead. All electronic parts are RoHS certified.
Hoplite is made in France, in our own factory, which is both ISO9001 and ISO14001 certified. We managed to outsource manufacturing steps as little as possible, and the subcontractors we use are locals or located in a bordering European country, in order to decrease carbon dioxide emissions.

How does Hoplite work?
Hoplite free app is not only intuitive and ergonomic, it’s also the only one able to retrieve Hoplite device data. App is running only on your computer or handheld device and does not access the Internet.
Let’s describe what happens when you click the application “save” button. App starts by encrypting twice all your data by using your master password as encryption key. Encryption is made by a cascade of two proven algorithms: AES-256-GCM, known as the world standard military-level encryption system, and fast and efficient ChaCha20. Then, encrypted data are sent through USB cable to the Hoplite device. End-to-end encryption is assured by the fact that the master password is known only by the app, who forgets it as soon as it quits: Hoplite device does not have any mean to decrypt the data it stores, nor any hacker has.
Encrypted data have now been received by Hoplite device. It writes them on both of its highly-reliable internal memories. Hoplite provides two memories to always have a backup copy of your encrypted data. Each memory comes from a different manufacturing batch, is ratified for -40°C to +85°C temperature range, holds data up to 200 years and easily handles more than one million write cycles (read cycles are unlimited).

Why is iOS not supported?
IOS platform will be supported when iPhones’ proprietary Lightning port will be replaced by standard USB-C port (currently, only iPad Pro features an USB-C port). Lightning port requires a specific cable to connect Hoplite to an iPhone, and that’s not handy.
